Viva Las Vegas...

From Bad, to Broke, to Worse

Here is a picture of the Las Vegas Fireworks Show... Notice the lack of Fireworks! There WAS no Fireworks Show! Worse yet, we headed back into the Casinos where I lost money and every bar was closed. Vegas was empty on the 4th.

Then we broke down in the middle of the desert on the way back to Los Angeles at around midnight. The alternator went out so we lost all power and had no hazard lights... luckily Lars found a roadside cone to make us more visible to the high speed traffic speeding by!

45 minutes after calling AAA for a tow... Uh Oh! FIRE! That's right, to our amazement, a brush fire broke out less than 100 yards from our location! After a quick call to 911, I called AAA back to tell them to hurry the hell up already, and then argued with them over our location. Apparently "20 miles east of Barstow on Southbound I-15 next to the Mad Greek Billboard" is not specific enough.. (They do have odometers on Tow Trucks don't they?) The dispatcher wanted the names of the nearest cross streets... "Cross Streets?!?! What part of 'we are in the middle of nowhere' don't you understand?" so I told them to look for the big ball of fire in the midnight sky engulfing our vehicle...

It's getting closer... but luckily the tow truck driver arrived Code 3 just in time to get us and our car out of there!

Nick and Lars were thrilled!

Finally, after spending the night in Barstow and getting our car fixed, we headed home. TRAFFIC! Why you ask? Well, a picture is worth a thousand words!
